Help Wanted: Sign Up to Monitor Local Board of Elections for Voter Suppression
On behalf of: Common Cause Georgia
One thing we know here in Georgia: voting rights are constantly and consistently under fire. We are no stranger to disenfranchisement, and it’s rampant throughout the state.
The Georgia ACLU, New Georgia Project, Asians Americans for Advancing Justice Atlanta, and Common Cause Georgia are working together to monitor all 159-county board of elections meetings. The idea is for two to three people to adopt a county board of elections, attend meetings, follow any updates, and monitor these local government bodies to ensure there is accountability to the public and to the job they are sworn to perform.
Our coalition will provide a checklist of items you need to take notes on and pick up at each meeting. Each month, the coalition will host a conference call for all volunteers to discuss patterns and issues around the state.
We need people THROUGHOUT the state — but ESPECIALLY in the following counties:
- Chatham
- Clarke
- Clayton
- Cobb
- Coweta
- Dougherty
- Douglas
- Gwinnett
- Hall
- Henry
- Houston
- Lowndes
- Muscogee
- Newton
- Rockdale
