Help Wanted: Fight Gerrymandering, Sign Up for Georgia Gerrymandering Tour
On behalf of: Common Cause Georgia
Gerrymandering - a political party drawing electoral districts to benefit itself, at the expense of minorities and others whose votes are diluted - is an unfortunate, very real practice in Georgia. Georgia has some of the most gerrymandered districts in all 50 states, resulting in very few truly competitive elections at the federal and state levels.
On Saturday, Sept. 16, Common Cause Georgia — an organization that seeks to hold government open, honest, and accountable — will begin a two-month tour around the state focused on the issue of gerrymandering. The tour will offer a brief history of gerrymandering in Georgia, a discussion of current problems with our redistricting process, and a training session for citizens interested in pushing local redistricting reforms.
The Georgia Gerrymandering Tour: Redistricting in GA 101 will be visiting the following cities. We invite all to come.
