TOP 3 PRIORITIES IF ELECTED
1) Economic development. My district covers three counties-DeKalb, Rockdale and Newton. We have many of the resources needed for economic development- K-12 and post-secondary institutions, a ready to work workforce and lots of land. My goal is to highlight our assets and work with local elected official to attract high paying jobs to the District. In so doing, we will also reduce traffic congestion on I-20 and nearby surface roads by reducing the number of people who have to travel to Decatur and Atlanta for jobs that allow them to pay their bills.
2) Medicaid expansion- Expanding Medicaid will reduce, according to some estimations, by half the number of uninsured Georgians and will help keep open rural hospitals. I have a high number of uninsured persons in my district and our health care facilities are challenged to meet the needs.
3) Education. I am proud to be a part of the first Legislature to fully fund the QBE formula for education in more than 30 years. This is a huge win for our children, but we must do more. We must invest more in schools, particularly pre-k and k and I want to increase our investment in HOPE, particularly for the technical colleges so that mid career professionals and vets can be retrained.
