The district includes parts of the northeast Atlanta metropolitan area, including the cities of Norcross, Cumming, Lawrenceville, Duluth, Suwanee, and Buford. The 7th is filled with well-educated voters, including many who commute to high-paying jobs in Atlanta. It’s also incredibly diverse — Gwinnett is majority-minority county. Donald Trump narrowly carried the county 2016, while Mitt Romney won by a wide margin in 2012.

Karen Handel (R) beat Ossoff (D) by 4 percent in the 2017 Special Election to replace Rep Tom Price. Ballotpedia identified this race as one to watch, and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee also included the district in its list of targets for 2018.
