U.S. District 1
All statements, answers, and information found within the 159 Georgia Together voter guide were collected via an electronic survey. Due to the sheer volume of information collected and the number of candidates that submitted survey data, all of the information presented in the guide is verbatim per the input from the survey participants (including any spelling or grammatical errors).

Top 3 Priorities If Elected
Medicare for All, jobs that offer a living wage, benefits, and union representation, and caring for our veterans and military families. It is time for elected officials to help meet the needs of all people without leaving anyone behind. Those three priorities are top concerns for many in my district and throughout the U.S.
Would you support passage of the Equality Act, which would grant members of the LGBT community the same federal protections against discrimination that exist for people based on race, color, national origin, sex, disability, and religion?
Yes. Every person deserves to live a life free of discrimination and have the same opportunities to live their version of the American dream.
Do you support a clean DREAM Act that would allow for both legal status for DREAMers and provide for a path to citizenship?
Yes. It is unforgivable to send 800,000 young people who contribute to our society and our economy to a country that is foreign to them. Especially since many of the DREAMers did everything they were asked in order to gain their citizenship. We must allow for a clear path to citizenship for the strength and integrity of our nation.
Do you support the right of workers to form a union and bargain collectively?
Yes. We are a union family and I support the rights of workers to organize in order to have a voice and negotiate for fair pay, benefits, and their own safety. The "right to work" attacks on workers that Georgia and the current administration pursue are destroying our middle- and working- class.
Do you support a livable wage of a minimum of $15 per hour?
Yes. And I believe it should be even higher in many circumstances and locations. But the fight for $15 has been the most vocal campaign to win higher wages and has widespread support. When we invest in workers and pay them a living wage, we strengthen the economy and everyone benefits.
Do you/did you support universal background checks on all gun sales?
Yes. We have a responsibility to public safety. Not requiring extensive universal background checks for every gun purchase is irresponsible and dangerous.
Do you support incentives for renewable energy development?
Yes. I am working on a plan to make Georgia world leaders in sustainable energy technology and production. I believe we could lead the way in solar, wind, tidal, and other new energies while creating jobs, educating our youth, retraining veterans and displaced workers, repairing our infrastructure, and implementing clean energies for the health of our planet. I also support HR3671 which provides incentives and support on all levels to transition to 100% clean renewable energies by 2035.
Do you support public vouchers being used for private or charter schools?
No. We must invest in quality education for all of our students. Public funds should be used for public schools.
Do you support building on the successes of the Affordable Care Act and Medicaid?
Yes. I believe we must support all measures that meet the healthcare needs of the American people. I am a strong advocate of HR 676- Medicare for All which expands our single-payer system of Medicare and offers universal healthcare for all from birth to death while saving at least $500 billion a year and generating revenue.
Do you support a Voting Rights Act that would include the pre-clearance provisions of Section V for all states and jurisdictions?
Yes. We must ensure that states and local governments do not discriminate and limit the rights of voters. This is an issue that should be under federal jurisdiction to protect all voters.
Will you support policies and legislation that increase access to reproductive health care, including abortion, and oppose policies and legislation that limit or reduce access to reproductive health care, including abortion?
Yes. We must stand together to protect the rights and freedoms of all, but the health and reproductive rights of women are increasingly under attack. I am committed to protecting access for women of every income level, to all forms of healthcare and birth control. And to protecting a woman's right to make her own decisions about her body and her life, including whether to continue or terminate a pregnancy, as is her constitutional right.
Would you support strengthening Social Security for current and future retirees and putting the program on a more stable fiscal path?
Yes. Social Security is a system that works, and one that our retirees have paid for already. We must absolutely strengthen and expand Social Security by raising the cap so we can meet the needs of our Seniors by raising benefits to keep up with the actual cost of living.
Do you support the repeal of mandatory minimum sentencing?
Yes. Judges should look at the circumstances of each case so they can determine a sentence that is proportionate to the scope of the crime and allow for humane solutions instead of unjust blanket punishments.
