In the United States, there are 34 states in which voter ID requirements (photo ID or other forms of ID) are enforced. Twenty-one million eligible U.S. voters do not have government-issued photo ID.

Of those 21 million, the majority fall into one of the following four categories:

  • people of color,
  • low income,
  • elderly,

For many, these categories intersect. Spread The Vote’s mission is to help every single American obtain the ID he or she needs to participate in our democracy.
