How to Vote &
Take Part in Our Democracy

Congratulations! You realize you need to vote. Now, what do you do to turn
your commitment to vote into action? Let’s get started.

Voter Information 

Visit Georgia’s My Voter Page (mvp.sos.ga.gov) to:  

  • Register to Vote (by Oct 9)

  • Check your Voter Registration Status (Very Important to confirm!)

  • See your Sample Ballot

  • Apply for an Absentee Ballot

  • Find Dates and Locations for Early Voting

  • Find Your Polling Place

Reminder to take a photo I.D. with you when you go vote!

Important Dates for 2018 General Election

  • Deadline to Register to Vote:  Tuesday, Oct. 9

  • Early Voting:    Monday, Oct. 15, through Friday, Nov 2.

  • Statewide Saturday Voting Day: Saturday, Oct. 27

  •  General Election:   Tuesday, Nov. 6

Amendments & State Referendum

In addition to candidates, these will be on your ballot:

Amendment 1

Creates the Georgia Outdoor Stewardship Trust Fund to protect water quality, wildlife, habitat, and parks.

Amendment 2

Creates a state-wide business court to lower costs, enhance efficiency, and promote predictable judicial outcomes.

Amendment 3

Encourages the conservation, sustainability, and longevity of Georgia’s working forests through tax subclassifications and grants.

Amendment 4 (Marsy's Law)

Provides and allows assertion of certain rights for victims of crime in the judicial process

Amendment 5

Authorizes local referenda for educational sales taxes for certain school systems and distribution of proceed

Referendum A

Provides for a municipal property tax exemption within certain cities 

Referendum B

Applies existing tax exemption for non-profit housing for mentally disabled to business-financed property
