#159CalltoAction: Help Georgians for Healthy Future
Looking for easy ways to advocate and to talk to legislators about healthcare issues? Please find a couple of sample scripts from our friends at Georgians for a Healthy Future:
Georgia’s new Governor, Brian Kemp, will be sworn in today Monday, January 14, 2019. Now is the time to communicate to him and Georgia’s legislators that health care is critical for individuals and families across the state. It is past time for Georgia leadership to invest in the health of Georgians and close the coverage gap. Email or call Governor Kemp or your legislators today to ask them to ensure all Georgians have health insurance cards in their pockets.
Don’t know what to say? Here’s some help:
“I am contacting you on behalf of the 240,000 Georgians who make too little to get financial help to buy health insurance on the Marketplace and don’t currently qualify for Medicaid. They are trapped in the coverage gap with no affordable health insurance options. These are hardworking Georgians, many of whom work in some of Georgia’s most important economic sectors: construction, transportation, education and retail.
Georgia is one of only 14 states that have not yet expanded Medicaid. Its time to bring Georgians tax dollars home and invest in the health of all Georgians by closing the coverage gap.
