#159CalltoAction: Help Defeat Anti-Immigration House Bill 452
An anti-immigration bill, SB 452, is being considered in the Georgia House after passing the Senate along partisan lines. The proposed bill would further the detention and deportation of immigrants by allowing all local law enforcement agencies to act as immigration enforcement.
Having local enforcement do the job of the federal government in immigration cases only causes community distrust in the police, costs our state and local governments more than they can afford in both time and money and has significant impact on children and families.
So, what can you do? On Thursday, March 8, Asian Americans Advancing Justice will host advocates for immigrant and refugee rights from 8 a.m. to noon in Room 514 of the Coverdell Legislative Office Building. Part of the time is training and legislative updates before going across the street to advocate for immigrants. #159CalltoAction #159Immigration
