#159CalltoAction: Make Those Gerrymandering Calls

Only an independent redistricting commission will end gerrymandering. We need to ensure that the Georgia General Assembly leadership will have hearings on the bills that will establish such a commission for Georgia. Call the Lt. governor, the speaker of the House, the chair of the House Committee and the chair of the Senate Committee. #159EndGerrymandering #159CalltoAction

• For Lt. Gov. Cagle & Speaker Ralston:
Hello, my name is (________) and I live in (_______). I am calling because I support redistricting reform in Georgia. Gerrymandering must stop. I believe voters should choose their representatives, not the other way around. Legislation has been introduced in both the Georgia House and Senate to change the way we draw legislative districts in Georgia. Please be sure that [Lt. Gov. Cagle OR Speaker Ralston] know that I’ve called to voice my support for real hearings for HR 2 and HR 3 and for SR 6 and SR7. The hearings need to be early in the 2018 session of the General Assembly, to provide substantial time for witnesses to testify and to conclude with a vote on the resolutions. I look forward to attending such a hearing. Thank him for his time and consideration.
